Why the Breville InFizz Fusion is The Best

The Breville InFizz Fusion is the machine reviewers reached for when they wanted the best experience rather than the cheapest one. Wirecutter and America's Test Kitchen both named it their upgrade pick, and NBC Select made it their outright editor's pick. America's Test Kitchen called its carbonation truly impressive and its brushed stainless body handsome and durable, the sturdiest build in the group. What sets it apart is the Fusion infuser, which lets it carbonate juice and cocktails without the foaming mess that defeats most machines, so it does far more than plain seltzer.

What It Won't Do

At about $250 with the CO2 cylinder often sold separately, it is one of the most expensive machines here, and its seven pounds of steel make it heavier to move than a plastic model.

Why the SodaStream Terra is the Best Value

The SodaStream Terra gives most people everything they actually need for around $90. America's Test Kitchen named it best for most people and CNN Underscored ranked it first overall, both praising its reliable one-button fizz. The snap-in Quick Connect cylinder is the fastest to swap of any machine tested, and SodaStream is the most widely stocked brand, so refills are easy to find. It undercuts every premium pick by more than a hundred dollars while still making crisp, dependable seltzer.

What It Won't Do

It carbonates water only, so juice and cocktails are out, and its proprietary Quick Connect cylinder ties you to SodaStream refills rather than cheaper cross-brand canisters.

The Competition

#3 Drinkmate OmniFizz
$129.99 MSRP

The versatility champion and the only machine to place in four of our five sources, carbonating juice, tea and wine through its Fizz Infuser while using cheap cross-brand cylinders, though Wirecutter demoted it from its former top pick.

Check Price
#4 Aarke Carbonator 3
$250 MSRP

The design statement, a SUS304 stainless lever machine that CNN Underscored and Taste of Home praised as pro-level, held back only by its $250 price with CO2 sold separately and its water-only limit.

Check Price
#5 Ninja Thirsti Sparkling & Still Drink System
$149.99 MSRP

The flavor machine, an automatic dispenser that builds dozens of sparkling and still drinks from flavor drops, useful for busy households but slowed down and burdened by proprietary pods per America's Test Kitchen.

Check Price
#6 SodaStream E-Duo
$179.99 MSRP

America's Test Kitchen's best machine for glass bottles, an electric SodaStream with three preset levels and a glass carafe option, though it stays water-only and uses the proprietary Quick Connect cylinder.

Check Price
#7 Philips Water GoZero Soda Maker

Taste of Home's budget pick, a lightweight machine that delivers great fizz for around $60, though several Philips models are now discontinued and it carbonates water only.
