Why the Shark CryoGlow LED Face Mask is The Best

The Shark CryoGlow is a pick in nine of our sources, and four of them rank it first. Good Housekeeping UK ran the biggest test we found: 190 panellists tested 24 masks between them, each for at least four weeks, and the CryoGlow topped the table at 92 out of 100. CNET, Oprah Daily and Cosmopolitan also name it best overall. Allure gave it the 2026 Best of Beauty award for LED skin devices, and Wirecutter made it a top pick after testing 11 devices.

The light spec backs up those scores. Shark packs 160 tri-wick LEDs, 480 light sources in all, covering 415 nm blue for breakouts plus 630 nm red and 830 nm near-infrared for fine lines. Wirecutter cites 73 mW/cm² of red output, and no other mask in our lineup publishes a higher figure. Its four programs run 4 to 8 minutes.

Testers remember the cooling. Clip-on chill pads sit under the eyes at three levels, and Byrdie's tester says the cooling is what justifies the $349.99. Good Housekeeping UK's panellists said it 'added a spa element that genuinely helped to calm me down and prepare me for the day ahead.' Because the shell sits off the face, Oprah Daily found it never gets too hot.

Shark lists it at $349.99. Every runner-up here costs more, from the $379.99 Therabody to the $469.99 CurrentBody. SharkNinja holds FDA clearance K242796 for the CryoGlow and backs it with a 2-year warranty.

What It Won't Do

It's loud and bulky. The cooling fan whirs whenever the chill pads run, a complaint Wirecutter, Good Housekeeping and Who What Wear all raise, and CNET notes the pads stop LED light reaching the skin under your eyes while they're on. The hard shell weighs 1.5 lb and doesn't fold, so Cosmopolitan found it hard to travel with. Shark has since added a CryoGlow Plus at $379.99 with more coverage at the crow's feet and lip lines. None of our sources has tested it yet.

Why the Dreame Chrona LED Light Therapy Mask is the Best Value

The Dreame Chrona lists at $299.99, $50 under the Shark, and Dreame's own store was selling it for $199.99 in late October 2026. CNET named it the best cordless LED mask. Mashable gave it a Choice Award after Leah Stodart used it for two months.

No other silicone mask in our lineup is this wireless. The battery is a magnetic disc on the headband, the remote has no cord, and a second battery comes in the box. At 338 g it weighs about half as much as the Shark, and Stodart packed it for beach trips. She says she could fold laundry while wearing it.

The light holds up against masks that cost more. Its 280 quad-chip LEDs cover five colors, including 630 nm red, 850 nm near-infrared and 465 nm blue, and CNET lists irradiance of 35 to 59 mW/cm². The CurrentBody and Omnilux masks both list 30. Two months in, Stodart reports smooth, even-toned skin and says she has 'barely gotten a zit'. Before she started using red light masks, she got a new one every day.

What It Won't Do

Dreame is new to skincare, and not much testing sits behind the Chrona yet. Among our sources only CNET and Mashable tested it in depth, the Amazon listing had 68 ratings in October 2026, and we couldn't find the 510(k) number behind Dreame's FDA-clearance claim. The battery underdelivers too: Mashable's Miller Kern got about 45 minutes from a battery rated for 60. There's no cooling or massage, and its blue light sits at 465 nm rather than the 415 nm the Shark uses for breakouts.

The Competition

#3 Therabody TheraFace Mask Glo
$379.99 MSRP

Good Housekeeping and Byrdie both rank it first, and its 504 LEDs are the most in our lineup. Vibration massage runs alongside red, near-infrared and blue light. Its 82.1 is the best score among the runners-up. Every Good Housekeeping tester found it heavy, though, and it costs $30 more than the Shark.

#4 Dr. Dennis Gross DRx SpectraLite FaceWare Pro
$455 MSRP

Forbes Vetted's top pick after nine testers used it for at least eight months, and the fastest routine here at three minutes. It scores 78.5. The rigid shell doesn't fit narrow faces, it has just 160 LEDs, and at $455 it costs $105 more than the Shark.

Check Price
#5 CurrentBody Skin LED Light Therapy Mask Series 2
$469.99 MSRP

Who What Wear UK gave it 10 out of 10 and Women's Health ranks it first. It's the only pick with 1,072 nm deep near-infrared. A 78.1 score reflects no blue light, a single preset and 30 mW/cm² output. Series 2 lists at $469.99, and the new Series 3 is $569.99.

#6 Solawave Wrinkle Retreat Pro LED Face Mask
$399 MSRP

The pick for fine lines on a tight schedule. CNET lists 65 mW/cm² from four red and near-infrared wavelengths in three-minute sessions, and Forbes testers found it secure on the face. It scores 77.5 because there's one setting, no blue light, and you can't use it while it charges.

Check Price
#7 Omnilux Contour Face
$395 MSRP

The Strategist's best overall, with more than 40 peer-reviewed studies and a 2-year warranty behind it. It scores 72.7: red and near-infrared come in one mode, the battery pack hangs off a cord, and testers at Forbes and Good Housekeeping struggled to keep it secure.
