Why the Vitruvi Stone Diffuser is The Best

The Vitruvi Stone turns up in seven of our eight sources, and three of them rank it first. HGTV's Theresa Holland named it Best Overall in September 2026. Good Housekeeping's Wellness Lab gave it the same title after it 'scored the highest marks across every category' of the lab's tests, and Healthline put it at the top of its list too. Even Wirecutter, which has backed a $20 URPOWER since 2017, names the Stone as its upgrade pick.

Scent output beats what the size suggests. In HGTV's testing the scent was noticeable beside the unit right away and across a large room within about an hour, and the tank ran the full 8 hours on the intermittent setting. Vitruvi rates it for 500 square feet. Homes & Gardens gave it 4 out of 5 for scent strength and found it quiet enough to run in a home office.

At bedtime, the cheaper picks can't match it. Wirecutter calls it 'one of the few diffusers with a truly subtle indicator light' and its choice for running while you sleep. It shuts itself off when the timer ends or the water runs out, so a forgotten diffuser never sits there running dry.

The hand-molded ceramic cover is why people buy it as decor. HGTV praises the 'sturdy, well-made design', and TechGearLab says the cover 'looks fantastic'. Left on a shelf, it passes for a piece of pottery. Vitruvi lists it at $129.99, and the white version was on sale for $103.99 on vitruvi.com in October 2026.

What It Won't Do

The tank is small. Vitruvi rates its 70 ml for 4 hours of continuous mist, and Wirecutter found that two layers of lids make refilling more annoying than it should be. The Spruce found crevices inside the tank that are hard to clean, and Homes & Gardens notes the controls sit on the back where they're tricky to reach. You get two run settings, no remote and no mist control. For $129.99 list, that's a lot less tank than the ASAKUKI gives you for $35.99.

Why the ASAKUKI 500ml Essential Oil Diffuser is the Best Value

Two separate 2026 roundups chose the ASAKUKI 500ml. Homes & Gardens' Ottilie Blackhall named it the best all-rounder in August 2026 and scored its value 5 out of 5. A month later, HGTV picked it as Best for Large Rooms. ASAKUKI models also turn up in Good Housekeeping, TechGearLab and Reviewed, which makes it the most recommended budget brand in our research.

The tank sells it. It holds 500 ml, about seven times the Vitruvi's water, and ASAKUKI rates it for up to 16 hours, enough for a full night and the next morning. HGTV added 20 drops and could smell it across a large room after about an hour. Homes & Gardens found it 'completely silent', and ASAKUKI rates it under 23 decibels.

Its controls beat the Vitruvi's, too. A remote with a 16.5-foot range sets 1, 2 or 3-hour timers, and the seven-colour light switches off without stopping the mist. ASAKUKI lists it at $35.99 on its own store, and its Amazon listing averages 4.3 stars from 72,771 ratings.

What It Won't Do

It looks like what it is, a plastic diffuser, and no reviewer praised its design. HGTV found the mist shoots out at a diagonal instead of straight up, so give it room away from walls and wood furniture. Homes & Gardens found condensation collects around the base and needs wiping. The warranty is 1 year unless you register the diffuser for a second.

The Competition

#3 Saje Aroma Om Ultrasonic Diffuser
$124 MSRP

Reviewed's testers said the Aroma Om 'won in all categories', and Healthline named it the quietest diffuser it tried. Its 120 ml tank holds more than the Vitruvi's and runs 10 hours on intermittent, and Saje promises to repair or exchange a unit that stops working. It scores 78.5, but the testing behind it is older (Reviewed's dates from December 2024), it costs $124, and its Amazon listing was unavailable in October 2026.

Buy Direct
#4 Stadler Form Jasmine Aroma Diffuser
$59.99 MSRP

No pick here runs longer on one fill. Good Housekeeping and Reviewed both cite 21 hours from 100 ml in interval mode, and Good Housekeeping says it 'became a quick favorite among our testers' on the way to Best for Small Spaces. It scores 78.4. Reviewed found the scent slow to build, there's no mist control, and $59.99 is well over the ASAKUKI's price.

#5 Organic Aromas Raindrop 2.0 Nebulizing Diffuser
$98 MSRP

Buy this one if scent strength is all you care about. Wirecutter calls it 'unbeatable at filling a room (or a few) with scent', HGTV named it Best Nebulizing, and Organic Aromas rates it past 800 square feet. It scores 76.0 because it shuts off after two hours, uses oil fast, and Amazon owners give it just 3.6 stars.

#6 InnoGear 100ml Essential Oil Diffuser

The Spruce's Best Overall after 30 diffusers tested since 2023, and Good Housekeeping's Best Portable. It's the cheapest pick here, and The Spruce got 'powerful scent dispersion' from 2 to 3 drops. A 100 ml tank, 100 to 250 square feet of coverage and no timer hold it to 71.3.

Check Price
#7 URPOWER 300ml Essential Oil Diffuser

Wirecutter's top pick since 2017, and still the pick in its October 2025 update. Its testers say it 'works better than models four or five times the price' for about $20. It scores 71.0: you cycle through every colour to turn the light off, URPOWER publishes no warranty, and there's no manufacturer site behind it.
